Ura is an Alpine haven in central Bhutan. Ura valley is known for its cozy farm house settings akin to those usually seen on cowboy movies in western hinterlands. Ura and Ura Yakchoe usually come out in the same breath because they are inseparable. The community of Ura gather together annually to observe and celebrate the event. As in all other festivals, masked dances and age-old folk songs are performed by the villagers themselves to much amusement and amazement of the spectators. This festival is often known for being a ‘Booze festival’ as a lot of local wine is served for all people – local or visitors alike. You are welcomed just like one of their own. Atsaras or Jesters will not cease to amuse y the entire duration with their antics.
