Paro Tsechu is an annual event in the valley of Paro located in western Bhutan. It is best known for attracting thousands of tourists as well as local people. Several masked dances, rituals and folk songs are performed each having a profound significance as the other. People dress in their best attires, cook sumptuous meals and gather for the occasion. This festival is not just a number of days designated for portraying masked dances by the monks but a special ceremony where people gather, reflect on their spiritual component of their lives amidst the humdrum existence of a bucolic country life. It’s an event where people take a breather and contemplate.
