Bhutan Journey's Testimonial [SUBMIT TESTIMONIAL] [NEXT...>>]

Last update: 19/5/2011

I would highly recommend Bhutan Journeys. I was impressed with the company from the outset as any queries I raised with Bhutan Journeys were dealt with swiftly and effectively. A fantastic itinerary was put together for me based on what I was keen to do and see in Bhutan. When I was in Bhutan, I was travelling as a solo female and I really appreciated the fact that my guide went out of his way to ensure that I was happy during my trip. In fact, all of the staff which were involved in my trip - the guide, driver, cook and horseman (required for my trek) - were absolutely superb. They were professional, attentive, considerate, friendly and very hospitable. I loved my time in Bhutan. It is a truly wonderful country.

Bhutan is a very nice country completely different from all other country in the world. Beautiful mountains, plans and land but the first part is completely different from the second one.
The point that i was interested in is: SPIRITUALITY and in Bhutan is strong. I found magical atmosphere with people because all are always smiling baby, child, women, me, old people and atmosphere is magic, there is no fear, no tension in person that you meet all people are kind, with an high sense of dignity. is great this point! Because in Europe a lot of people have too much than Bhutan but are completely different.

It was a truly exhilarating and eye-opening, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The pristine nature of your culture is rare to come by and is a wonderful vacation from the hustle-and-bustle of life here. I would also like to add that our experience in Bhutan could not have been as pleasant as it was if it hadn't been for our tour guide and driver. They were very professional, took excellent care of us the entire time and even went the extra mile to ensure that we got to see every aspect of the culture.

I am definitely recommending Bhutan Journeys to all of my friends here that are interested in visiting Bhutan and I myself look forward to re-visiting Bhutan sometime in the future.

Wishing you all the best of luck with everything!!! Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!!!

Sincerely,

Bhutan Journeys was recommended to me by some friends; therefore, I sent an informational request. Sonam responded quickly with excellent English and from then on we emailed occasionally and before I knew it, I was on my way to Bhutan. The guide and the driver met me at the airport and were polite, gentle, and courteous towards me. They also spoke great English and were very attentive to my individual needs. I knew very little about Bhutan prior to my trip, and the guide shared great quantities of information with me so that I could better understand the country, the people, the history, etc. The activities I chose varied from sightseeing to hiking to enjoying the local cuisine. The yak butter tea is not my favorite, but the spicy chiles in cheese are exceptional! I think I ate that for almost every meal. I did not purchase many souvenirs while in the country, but rather returned to my country with beautiful photos and great memories. Thank you Bhutan Journeys! Suzzi Pautler

Since visiting Bhutan twice to research for my book on Bhutan, which appeared at a renowned German publisher in 2002 I dreamed about trekking in the mountains of Bhutan. In fall of 2010 this dream came true: Together with four friends I hiked the Jomolhari trek. Bhutan Journeys did the complete organization of our trip and our decision for Bhutan Journeys was a very good one. Sonam Chophyel himself took special care of us, fulfilled all our special wishes and made our time in Bhutan as comfortable as possible.

For the trek he sent his brother as guide plus a very qualified team of cook, horsemen and porters. The trek itself was outstanding beautiful, even though two of our group had to go back after a few days due to altitude problems. It is not easy to split up a group in the middle of the trek but this was done with great care and the professional service was continued for both parties. It is said that the Sherpas of Nepal give the best possible service for trekkers, but I have to say that our Bhutanese team easily met those high standards. Breakfast, Juice break, warm Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner - it is quite an effort to provide this under the circumstances of a 10-day trek through the remote highlands of Bhutan. This professional service made it possible that we were able to concentrate carefree on the beauty of the landscape - the fairy-tale forests of the lower altitudes and the breathtaking snowy peaks of the higher spheres. All the"everyday-things" like building the camp, cooking, talking care of the luggage etc. etc. was done in a very relaxed way - always with a hearthy smile - by our Bhutanese team. So we had a great time and we definitely can recommend Sonam and his Bhutan Journeys for trips of all kind in Bhutan – be it a cultural tour to the Dzongs and monasteries or trekking in the mountains

After having some frustrations by dealing with a Hong Kong travel agency, I decided to arrange my trip directly through an agency in Bhutan. I am lucky that I have found Bhutan Journeys. Sonam has been very helpful since the planning of the trip. He was patient and prompt in answering all my questions. I specified that I was more interested in the cultural aspect of this country, and Sonam has arranged an itinerary accordingly. It was a privilege for me to have visited his home town, the Tang Valley, as it is not very much a tourist destination yet it is so tranquil and so beautiful.
My guide, Tenzin, and my driver, Teg, have become my friends. They did their best to fulfill my wishes, such as watching a Dzongkha movie or going to a local restaurant instead of eating in at the hotel. I’ve also had quite a lot of chances to interact with local Bhutanese, especially in Bumthang where Sonam and Tenzin come from. During my two weeks in Bhutan I felt like I was more than just a visiting tourist.

Sonam is attentive to all his clients and takes great pride in providing good services. He always made sure that I was well taken care of, and dropped by several times to check if I’m happy with all the arrangements. I recommend Bhutan Journeys to anyone who would like to visit Bhutan.

What can I say ? The experience was so amazing, I’m lost for words. The organisation was impeccable, my guide and driver were both knowledgeable and charming and the itinerary was inspiring. This is a truly special country – a haven of calm in a world plagued by hurry sickness. Its natural beauty is matched only by the incredible Buddhist monuments, the colourful festivals and the respectful charm of its people. If you like spicy food, the chilli-cheese is a must. Bhutan prides itself in Gross National happiness – it certainly boosted mine massively and the memories of what Sonam and his excellent Team provided me with will stay with me foreve

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Bhutan. We have been fortunate to have visited many countries around the world but Bhutan has a special place in our hearts. The organisation of the whole trip was impeccable. We just told Sonam Chophyel where we would like to visit and he made it happen. Nothing was too much trouble for either our guide, Jigme, or our driver, Tenzing, who made us feel safe (even on those twisting, narrow mountain roads)!

We will certainly be recommending this company for a Bhutanese journey.

My husband and I decided to choose Bhutan for our holidays (March 2010)and contacted Bhtuan Journeys for the organiation of our trip. We explained Sonam the high expecatations we had on our vist, as being Buddhist, and asked him to make it a dream.

This is exactly what he did. From the moment we were welcomed at Paro Airport we have been surrrounded by loving cares, kindness and hands on attitude . All the accommodations were outstanding and the food definitely high level. The deep konowledge of the country, it's coulture and the long experience in tourism business that Sonam ownes, made it possible.

As per our request Sonam managed to obtain special permissions to have access to visit monasteries and allow us to join monks during their practice. This was really high value for us and extremely emotional. We will keep those memories in or hearts forever.

Bhutan is thw most beautiful country we visited in our life, for landscapes, culture and people above all. Now we have proof that is really is "The Last Shangri-La".

Thank you Sonam for the memorable experience and for your professional and caring assistance extended to us. To all of you, we fell to recommend Bhutan Journeys for your visites and we welcome anyone seeking for more details to contact us.

We are more than happy to share the treasures we took with us.

In September this year my wife and I made one of our most memorable and amazing vacation to Bhutan, the Kingdom of Happiness after a short and hassle free planning. What made this trip memorable and interesting was not only the place, but more importantly the guides and the knowledge that they posses and share throughout the trip.
Having traveled to many countries in the world on personalized trip, Bhutan Journeys has given us one of the best memories that we can ask for in a vacation. We wish to compliment and express our appreciation to both Sonam Chophyel (SC) and Sonam Tashi (ST) our guides for the trip.

During the trip, we have traveled and experience many local cultures from foods to visiting the local weekend market to a walk around the local primary school and also not forgetting our leisurely hike to Tiger Nest. We have enormously enjoyed both Sonams’ treatment at all times and also their extended effort and helping hand during the trip to ensure that we are comfortably settled in our hotels and restaurants every time.

I remember clearly from an occasion during the trip, after a long day journey we wanted to visit a local town. We approach SC and he immediately commented, “You’re here for a holiday and we are here to do our job. It is only right that we make sure that you are taken care of”. This is the type of service we get from the two of them from the time we touch down at Paro Airport till the day we depart home.

We strongly recommend anyone whom wants to visit Bhutan to choose Bhutan Journeys for a memorable travel experience. My wife and I welcome anyone seeking for reference on Bhutan Journeys. Our few words here are not enough to describe how much we enjoyed our holidays and their company, but we are sure that we will soon be returning to the country and enjoying their company again. We did not only had a vacation in Bhutan, we have also made two great friends at the end of the trip.

Back in Switzerland our thoughts are going every day to Bhutan. The trip together with Bhutan-Journeys was one of the most beautiful adventures for us. It will be the most precious compliment for an agency, when the feeling to belonging continues and the desire is present to do as soon as possible an other visit in the wonderful country of dragon.

We get to know the country during three weeks together with Sonam and Tashi traveling from west to east. We learned a lot about culture, religion, Flora and Fauna.

The two guides where very competent, flexible and careful to the wellbeing of the tourists. Tashi is speaking German and Sonam speaks English in an excellent way.

Sonam is an expert of Buddhism and knows a lot about the Bhutanese culture. He has a lot of relations to the people and to the monasteries and the government. This fact makes exciting the traveling.

The visit in a valley where the Bhutanese people cultivates buckwheat was a culmination point for us. Buckwheat is produced in only one valley in our country Switzerland, in Val Poschiavo, where Antonio is coming from. We eat some food specialties with buckwheat in a monastery and could enjoy the intensive culture exchange.

We recommend Sonam and Bhutan Journeys Agency sincere and are ready to speak about our experiences in the unique country.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. . . and we are glad that we took it with Bhutan Journeys.
We were fortunate to visit Bhutan in September 2007 for six days, guided and organized by Bhutan Journeys. Never has a country so exceeded my expectations, so entranced me with its unique mix of ancient history, rich culture, physical beauty and compelling, colorful religious festival. Our 6-day itinerary was enjoyable and unforgettable.
Our guide was Sonam, knowledgeable, friendly, and accessible. He knows Bhutan, its present and its past, its culture and its fragile beauty. Also, he knows everybody, which is helpful, convenient and practical.
We had a very reliable and comfortable SUV throughout the trip and our driver, Ugyen, is also such a charming and friendly man to be around. He knows the best spot to take pictures and is very knowledgeable about Buddhism. His driving style is convincing, especially in some of the curvy and bumpy mountain road.
Sonam did a wonderful job of planning our trip to Bhutan. Prior to the departure of our trip, we explored & discussed many different options for our trip via emails. He always answered all our emails and questions promptly. He made sure we experienced the best of the best of hotel rooms, restaurants, and entertainment. He’s so thoughtful on many things, like organizing a surprise birthday party for my husband with Sonam’s friends and made us feel like home in Bhutan.  A trip with him was like a trip with an old friend. We have never encountered anything but friendliness, honesty, good humor and hospitality. We had a great time and traveling experience in Bhutan. We highly recommend Bhutan Journeys for all your Bhutan travel needs. Be prepared to be amazed by this beautiful country.

Sonam: Thank you very much for the excellent tour of the highlights of western Bhutan beginning on May 23 and ending with our departure on May 28.  The logistics of the trip proved to have been very thoughtfully planned, and the sights were excellent.  As a guide you were able to share with us your deep knowledge of Bhutanese and Buddhist culture, religion and history, contributing immensely to the quality and enjoyment of our trip.  Our accommodations were also outstanding, so congratulations on that aspect.  We really enjoyed your selections of Bhutanese food for us, though I will not miss the hot green chilis (which I thankfully survived).

Our group of five friends visited Bhutan in March- April 2009 using Bhutan Journeys Company. Our guide ,Sonam, was great. His knowledge of his country was boundless including culture, architecture, art, Buddhist cosmology, and politics. His understanding of contemporary world events enlightened our insights into Bhutan's past as well as its present and future. He was also flexible and could accommodate spontaneous requests like buying seasonal wild vegetables in the markets and having the hotels or restaurants prepare them using local recipes. Our 14 day itinerary was well planned for a diversity of experiences such as seeing Dzongs, temples, museums and markets and walks in the countryside away from roads. Our driver made us feel safe on any road and he is very knowledgeable about the birds of Bhutan. Overall it was a delightful trip to be treasured in memory and photos and we anticipate returning to see the more remote eastern Bhutan with Bhutan Journeys.

My family and I want to thank you and Bhutan Journeys for the wonderful experience we had on our recent tour with you. Your phone call and extra efforts to ensure us that we did not make a mistake by booking with you online let us know we had made the right choice. The tour was an experience of a lifetime that none of us will ever forget. We still talk about the many stories and legends that you told us during our journeys and we have enjoyed reading the books about Bhutan that we brought back. The trip to Tigers Nest was incredible but we also enjoyed the many other unique experiences, sights, sounds and tastes of your beautiful and gracious country. Some of our favorite memories include drinking yak butter tea at the mountain pass, hiking through the rice paddy with singing school boys, seeing historic buildings, incredible artwork and cloth weaving, the hot stone bath, and the traffic policeman waving his arms, like to music.

Please thank our driver Tshering for the safe way he took us from place to place and for his beautiful singing and flute playing during our trekking and exploring. We are getting better at the Bhutanese song you tried to teach us. We all look forward to visiting Bhutan again with you. We have passed on our highest recommendation to friends who are thinking of visiting and told them they will have a marvelous time by booking with you at Bhutan Journeys.
