Essence of Bhutan 'B' (07 nights / 08
days)
Day 01: Arrive Phuntsholing
• Arrival in Phuntsholing and you will meet the representative
from Bhutan Journeys on arrival and transfer to the hotel.
• Evening take a walk around Phunstholing town.
• Overnight Druk Hotel / Similar
Day 02: Phunstholing – Thimphu (175kms) (6-7 hours)
Morning depart for Thimphu. After 20 minutes drive you will
visit Kharbandi monastery built 1967, offers stunning views of
Indian planes.
The road takes a steep climb through tropical vegetations to
Gedu, recently established town due to Tala Hydropower project.
Drive offers one of best sceneries of water falls and lush green
valleys
Pass through Chukha Hydropower commissioned in 1968 and Chukha
town.
Lunch will be served Bunakha Guest house
Afternoon pass through Chapcha village and descend down to
Chunzom, confluences of Thimphu and Paro River.
You will see three forms Chortens in different styles i.e.
Nepales, Tibetan and Bhutanese.
Following Thimphu River upwards passing through several villages
Thimphu is situated in a large valley traversed by Wangchuk
River and overshadowed by high peaks
On arrival in Thimphu, you will be taken to the best hotel
located in the heart of town, easy access to go around the
commercial establishment.
Evening you will have free time to explore by your own.

Day 03: Thimphu Sightseeing
Morning, visit to School of Arts & Crafts, Textile & Folk
Heritage Museum and Memorial Chorten ( Stupa).
Afternoon drive to Sangay Gang (BBS Tower) to glimpse the view
of Thimphu valley.
En-route visit Mini zoo to see the National Animal “Takin” and
followed by visit Tashi ChoDzong (main seat of the government
and summer residence of Jey Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and central
monk body and Handicrafts shops.

Day 04: Thimphu – Dochu la pass – Punakha
Morning visit the Traditional paper Factory
Depart for Punakha, drive takes about 3 hours over Dochul la
pass ( 3050m)
The pass is dotted with many chortens (stupas) and colourful
flags), offers a stunning views of eastern Himlayan peaks on a
clear day.
Stop at the Dochula cafeteria for light refreshment and descend
to the fertile valley of lobesa.
After 20 minutes of driving, you will arrive at your hotel. You
settle doen at the hotel and have some lunch.
Afternoon drive to visit Punakha Dzong, the most impressive Dzong in the country ideally located between the two rivers.
Drive back to the hotel.

Day 05: Punakha / Lobesa / Thimphu / Paro)
Morning depart you hotel to take a gradual hike to Chhimi
Lakhang through the Lobesa village and rice fields
Visit the Chimi “lakhang” (monastery “ Temple of fertility”
built in 15th Century by Lama Drukpa Kuenley also known as
(Divine Madman). It is a popular pilgrimage sight for all
Bhutanese and is especially revered by women for its fertility
powers.
Walk back to the road head and drive to Dochula for lunch.
Afternoon continue your journey to Paro.
Crossing the confluence, en-route view Tachogang monastery, “the
temple of excellent horse” built by Thangthong Gyalpo (Iron
chain builder in Bhutan).
Paro retains its bucolic nature in spite of the existence of
development projects and one the most beautiful valley in the
country.
Check in your hotel.

Day 06: Paro Sightseeing
Morning Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), which shed further
light that you will be seeing on your trip.
Visit Rinpung Dzong built in 1646, which houses the
administrative center for Paro District and religious institute
for monks. Walk down to the coach crossing over the wooden
covered bridge called (Nymezampa) which spans over Paro River.
Lunch will be arranged at one of the local restaurant in Paro
town.
Afternoon visit Drukgyel Dzong (the ruined fortress) which
reveals the ancient architecture and on a clear day, you will be
able to view the stunning view of Mt. Chomolhari looming over
the dzong.
Stroll in Paro town and drive back to your hotel.

Day 07: Paro Taktsang Excursion
Morning drive towards the north of Paro Valley to
Ramthangkha and hike to visit Taktsang monastery.
The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of tress
festooned with moss and an occasional grove of fluttering
prayers flags.
This monastery is one of the most venerated and sacred of all
Buddhist sights around the world.
The legend has it that Guru Rimpoche( founding saint of
Buddhism) flew from eastern Bhutan on a tigress and meditated
for three months.
Permits ill be arranged to visit the monastery and can arrange a
horse ridding till the cafeteria. After visiting the monastery,
walk down to cafeteria for lunch. Afternoon walk down to the
base and drive to Paro town.
Drive back to your hotel
Farewell Dinner and Overnight: Hotel
Day 08: Depart Paro Airport
Morning drive to airport for your onward flight destination.
